The Quest of Time

Time is one of the most influential elements in the universe. It moves so swiftly that we are unable to recognize its worth until it will become a history. “Time is the only device used to measure experiences.” We can do sundry of things at different situation at times. If ever we can hold on time and let it go back to our most cherished event in life, I know for sure many will do it including myself. Time is a precious gift from God for human to spend wisely and accurately. “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

 The Influence of Time

There are several events and experiences that happen in different places, on numerous people in all walks of life due to the influence of time. The days that have gone by might have brought much pain, injustice and misunderstanding among people. It was Roy T. Bennett who said, “Don’t waste your time in anger, regrets, worries, and grudges. Life is too short to be unhappy.” Time changed lives, heal the wounds of the past, move and innovate people. It motivates progress, democracy as well as peace. In everything there’s a beginning and ending because time runs by. Although time is so erratic, we could still reminisced its imprint due to the events enlisted at a certain era of human existence.

Ways in Refreshing the Bygone Moments

How to cherish those passing moments in our lives? Can we hold on those memories that we valued the most? How to use our time wisely? In order to treasure some events that had come to past, we must write it down. The memories of the past will serve as our guide in our journey with this life. We will be able to learn valuable lessons from the different circumstance in the past.

Moreover, there are a variety of ways in refreshing the bygone moments in life. It could be through some portraits, audios, videos, news, relics and personal writings- these stuffs will also provide some facts for certain events that need to be investigated in the future. Different individuals would also make us recall the past- they are our friends, families, relatives and significant others. Even if without the help of these people we could still evoke our past, because it is already part of our life’s journey. God has written those memoirs into our hearts.”He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

  Using Our Time Shrewdly

We can use our time wisely, by investing it on important activities. It depends on us if how we will make use of our time astutely on productive activities. Time never waits us in everything we do. A proper time management is therefore, essential in order to cope up with the rushing seconds in this life. “The time is always right to do what is right” Martin Luther King, Jr. quipped.

Here are some simple tips for a proper time management:

First, plan the events/ activities (whether at home, school, or on your work place).

Secondly, jot down all the events /activities with its respective time frames.

Thirdly, be sure to check the events/activities once completed.

Lastly, be sure to carry out every single event or activity you have listed on its respective time frames.

If you will be able follow these simple guidelines you will find work rewarding and you will become more productive as well.

Spending our Time for Others

Time is like footprints in the sand, though it leaves a mark, but the surging waves of the sea will wash it away. Just like time, although we can’t hold it forever but its memories will last a lifetime, especially if we spend it on valuable activities. What are these decisive activities? While leaving here on earth, God has entrusted us various gifts for us to impart to others who are in dire need. Every creation has a purpose and reason of existence. We can do charitable works – taking good care of the aged, the abandoned children, the sick, the poor and comforting the afflicted. Mother Teresa said it well: “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

We can spread the gospel and leading the lost and those who are gone astray to Jesus. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). Let us bear in mind that if we invest our precious time for others, we are not very far from God’s kingdom. Our Father in heaven will reward us for all the good things we have done here on earth. Let us indeed, invest our precious time wisely in order to enjoy a peaceful flow of our days here on earth.

Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit spirit

Love is one of God’s indescribable gifts. It is His passion for human beings. The love of God is a commitment, but it is not dependent on feelings. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten Son that whoever believes on him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This is the greatest love of God bestowed to all humankind. However, because of its greatness it is very hard for us humans to understand why God send forth His only Son to suffer and die in our place. Jesus offers His life on the cross for the salvation of our souls. May the love of God can be seen in us, through our Godly deeds and tender compassion to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

The Holy Spirit creates and fills our hearts with much joy, which is the result of trusting God. Knowing that He will be our confidence whatever life may bring. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). Real joy can only be attained by making God the center of our lives. The joy deep within us will also reflect unto our countenance. If God is with us no one can steal that joy which is a result of forgiveness and inner cleansing. He will make all things beautiful in His own way and time despite of the troubles in this life. Let us rejoice and lift our burdens to God through prayers.

It has been said that “a world of prayer is a world at peace.” However, in this chaotic society where crimes, brutality and misunderstanding among us are very much rampant, it is impossible to attain real peace. Nevertheless, with God everything would be possible. In John 14:27 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you, what the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Each one of us craves for global, social and personal peace, but the most essential of which is a peace from God – A Blessed Peace.

“Patience is the key for everything.” It is essential in order to surpass every test that we will meet as we journey in this life.” Be patient, then brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near” (James 5:7-8). Forbearance brings peace, unity and harmony to all God’s children.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people holy and dearly loved clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:12-13). Because of His love and compassion, God has given us many blessings to enjoy and share them to those in dire need. May the kindness that we offer will be done out of love and generosity.

The virtue that we show to others reflects our personal relationship with God. The true followers of Christ are those who are able to live life with generosity and tender compassion to others. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven “(Matthew 5:16).The truly godly among us are those who are able to love his brother and sister in Christ Jesus by sharing whatever resources he has in this world. The root of our goodness is no other than God.

A man of faith is never alone, because God will be his confidence in whatever circumstances that he will meet in this life. In Matthew 25:23 His master replied, “Well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge with many things. Come and share your masters’ happiness!” God has entrusted us with talents and abilities for a special purpose.  Let us invest our God-given talents for His glory by sharing it to the needy, so that when Christ will come, He will be glad that we are faithful with the gifts He bestowed unto us and like the faithful servant, we will also rejoice with Him on His dwelling place in heaven.

Gentleness is a product of self-control for a man who can control his emotions has true humility. As Christians, let us utter words that bring healing, rather than those that will defile others. Our deeds and actions might, lead our fellowmen to destruction. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”( Galatians 5:22-23).Our brain should not harbor evil thoughts and desires rather of a pure and stimulating ideas. May God’s word will be our standard in life.

A man who is filled with God’s wisdom has self-control.” Different feelings, emotions and desires might outburst due to lack of self-control. Proverbs 16:32, states that “Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his emotions than those who takes a city.” Self-control results to right thinking, the desire to do good things and trusting God in whatever circumstances that we encounter through life. Self-control is necessary in bringing out harmony in every situation.

A Real Peace

real peace

God send forth peace that this world cannot offer. Peace emanate within in our hearts. It is a blessed peace of knowing God and His goodness to us. Peace will only takes place when we are living in the truth and following an example of Christ Jesus, who is the Prince of peace. Peace is the beginning of all the wonderful things in life.  “Where there is faith, there is love; where there is love, there is peace; where there is peace, there is God; and where there is God; there is no need,” Leo Tolstoy quipped.

Peace is not the availability of our basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. It is not the absence of war and misunderstanding. Peace does not commence when we are successful, famous and powerful. Honor, fame and material success are not the foundation of real peace but the beginning of pride and self-righteousness. If we only think of our personal merits, dignity and progress in life we could not attain real peace. In every achievement that we have, let us always acknowledge that God is behind it.

When peace reigns in every heart, generosity takes place. Peace only begins when we experience the kindness of God deep within us and be able to share our resources to those in dire need. Giving alms and serving our fellowmen is the manifestation of real peace and inner joy. When there is no peace, we will continue to hunger and thirst for it, but no food or water could satiate our longings. If there is no peace life could not reach the maximum level of satisfaction. We keep on searching, but found nothing worth living for.

Our deepest desire for a genuine peace can be found in Jesus alone. He is the fountain of life constant and boundless coming from heavens above. In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you, as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. A peaceful mind creates a joyful spirit. Let the blessed peace which is coming from God begin in our lives today.

How Do We Live?

In the Bible it is stated that no one is righteous not even one, all have sinned since the beginning of time. “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind, to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one” (Psalms 14:2-3). We committed sins by what we think, say and do. Sin is usually the offshoots of our desires for worldly things. However, let us not take sins merely the reason for lurking our lives into various wicked thoughts and evil desires rather we must strive hard to live a Godly life.

In this world, we lived accordingly because we are given the freedom to do whatever pleases us. Unfortunately, behind every freedom that we have, a great responsibility goes with it. Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” As Christians, we ought to impart the different blessings that God has entrusted to us. This is made possible by sharing our resources to those in dire need.  And taking the lost to Jesus is the noblest thing we can do as children of God. Somehow, this will make them realize the goodness and love of God through us, His instruments. “Let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:20).

Nevertheless, are we doing this in reality? How do we live? “This is not a question of choice, but an inquiry of responsibility.”  Sometimes, we become selfish in using our talents and abilities. We even aspire the things that others possess, taking life as a competition in terms of wealth, power and fame. Unknowingly, in looking forward for the pleasures of this world, we lost the real source of joy: JESUS. Let us rather consider our capacity to help others through the knowledge and skills that God has given us. Living here on earth is just temporary, because we are not home yet. “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).

In our journey with this life, we are all travelers, who pass different ways but having the same destination: DEATH. Stephen Grellet said it well: “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” We must therefore look forward for our heavenly dwelling and start investing it now, while there’s still time and whatever things we can offer to others in need, today is the right time tomorrow might be too late!

A short trip to discover the beauty of God’s creation is enough to unravel different pressures in this life.

Manger’s Jewel

REJOICE!  It’s Christmas time once again! Each one of us is so busy for the preparation of the coming of the most awaited gift wrapped with kindness and generosity. We are all anticipating for the coming of Someone very special. “And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased” (Luke 2:13-14). The spirit of this season truly captivated everyone who waits for His coming into our hearts. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12).

The star in the sky shines so brilliantly and lighted up His way. What are your preparations for His coming? Is it buying gifts for the family and significant others? It is through an extravagant party and social gatherings? Or it might be through some expensive and trendy decors. We all know that Christmas nowadays, is too much driven by commercialization.

How about those who couldn’t afford to buy even a single meal on Christmas day? Christmas means sharing the blessings that God has given us for the whole year round. It is also a time for recollection and thanksgiving. It is the best time to heal wounds and renewal of oneself. Whatever you can share this Christmas make it truly lasting and memorable. Jesus is our Manger’s Jewel. He came into this world to save us despite of His kingship. He humbled Himself and took the place of a servant and born in a lowly manger.

Let us not forget that the true essence of Christmas is a celebration of Jesus’ birthday.  Like a child in the manger let us become a real jewel that sparks in the dark and shoddy corners of this world. Spread goodness, share your presents, loved the unlovable and peace will reign in this season of joy. It is by giving that the kindness and overflowing grace of the God flows into our life unceasingly. Let us welcome Jesus in the mangers of our hearts this Yuletide season. Have a Joyful Christmas Everyone!
